Con frecuencia siento que el Señor me hace la misma pregunta: "¿Quién dices tú que soy yo?" ¿Es Él realmente lo más importante en mi vida? ¿Es Él en quien fundamento todas mis demás decisiones? O, más bien, ¿solo me concentro en Él cuando me resulta conveniente o cómodo? El mundo de hoy está lleno de opciones que fácilmente pueden convertirse en nuestros ídolos. Podemos preguntarnos: ¿Es aquello que adoramos la búsqueda del dinero, del poder o del dominio sobre los demás? ¿Perdemos tiempo desplazándonos continuamente en nuestros teléfonos, en lugar de permitirnos ser conscientes de la presencia de Dios? ¿Vemos a Cristo en aquellos que tienen necesidad? Por medio de nuestra vida, ¿quién decimos que es el Señor?

I often sense the Lord asking me the question, "Who do you say that I am?" Is He really the most important thing in my life? Is He the one on whom I base all my other decisions? Or rather, do I only focus on Him when it is convenient or comfortable? Today's world is full of choices that can easily become our idols. We can ask ourselves is what we worship the pursuit of money or power or dominance over other people? Do we waste time scrolling on our phones instead of allowing ourselves to become aware of the presence of God? Do we see Christ in those in need? By our lives, who do we say that the Lord is?

This 21st Sunday in Ordinary Time, the Church proclaims Matthew 16:13-20 — the Confession of Saint Peter at Caesarea Philippi. Jesus asks his disciples the question that echoes across every age: 'Who do you say that I am?' Peter's bold declaration, 'You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God,' becomes the foundation upon which Christ builds his Church. Deacon Darrell Buono invites parishioners to let this question penetrate their daily examen — not merely as words professed, but as a life lived in faithful witness to the one, definitive Lord.

Quizás este Evangelio nos invita a preguntarnos: • ¿Quién es la persona o el grupo que me cuesta mirar con compasión? • ¿Qué herida antigua o resentimiento histórico continúa influyendo en mi manera de juzgar a los demás • ¿Dónde podría Dios estar invitándome a pasar de la desconfianza a la comprensión, del juicio a la misericordia y de la división a la reconciliación?
