The Revised and Regular Guidelines and Prerequisites for Baptism at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, Orlando, Florida

 
Congratulations and blessings to you on this joyous occasion of the grace of the Sacrament of Holy Baptism in the life of yourself, your child(ren), or within the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults or Children (OCIA). Blessed Trinity Catholic Parish will provide the absolute best religious formation and preparation for this sacred moment in your life and in the life of the Church. 
 
The Sacrament of Baptism begins a life of Covenant- faith and Servant-discipleship in the Family of God and the Community of the Catholic Church. By its special nature and importance, the Sacrament of Baptism is preserved and prepared through prescribed practices and formation guidelines in obligation to the teachings of the universal Catholic Church, the Diocese of Orlando, and the policies of Blessed Trinity Catholic Parish.

Qualifications:

• Any persons, children, infants and immediate family members within a registered Catholic household faithfully attending BT Catholic Church, its liturgies, and its faith-formation programs.
• All the above from a Catholic household residing within the territorial boundaries of BT Catholic Church; attending its liturgies and faith formation programs; (yet never have been registered).
• Catholic parishioners, newly or just recently registered, attending or beginning to attend BT Catholic Church and its liturgies and faith formation programs. The parish reserves the right to require a waiting period of three to six months in order to witness active membership and stewardship of time, talent, and/or resources.
• Any person (adult, child, infant) in danger of death and freely requesting the Sacrament of Baptism in the Catholic Church (or requested from adult family members when necessary).

 
Parent Requirements (and/or Legal Guardians):
Pre-assessment interview with a member of the BTCC Clergy after initial intake of information from Nilda Santana (Office Manager) or member of BTCC Parish Clergy, either in person or by internet (Zoom Session). Contact the Parish Office during working hours at 407-277-1702 or [email protected].
 
Only Catholic parents will complete the registration packet and with the Priest or Deacon in the Interview, providing necessary documents, including:

• Completion the Infant Baptism Registration Form (IBRF)
• Copy of Child’s Birth Certificate
• Certificate of attendance at required Baptismal formation program(s) within BTCC parish and by parish clergy (or from a neighboring Catholic parish in the Diocese of Orlando). Certificates from outside the Diocese of Orlando must have a signature and seal by the Pastor of the parish providing the certificate.

 
Date and Time of Baptismal Ceremony
The preferred dates for Baptisms in the Catholic Church and within Blessed Trinity Catholic Parish will be scheduled on Sundays in the afternoons. The normal schedule is as follows:

• Baptisms are normally once a month on Sunday afternoons. For English, the 2^nd Sundays and for Spanish, the 4^th Sundays. By special circumstances, baptisms may be scheduled at other times for serous reasons. The final date of all baptisms in Blessed Trinity Catholic Parish will be solely by consultation with the Parish Clergy and by confirmation with the Pastor of the parish.

 
Godparent Requirements:  Adherence to Roman Catholic Canon Law:

• Godparents must be practicing Catholics who are at least 16 years of age and must have received the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, Reconciliation and Confirmation. 
• Godparents must be active in the practice of their Catholic faith. 
• If married, the godparents must be married in the Catholic Church in the Sacrament of Matrimony or have their marriage convalidated (blessed) by the Catholic Church. 
• Cohabitating couples or individuals outside the Catholic Sacrament of Matrimony are disqualified from being godparents. 
• Providing necessary documents:
  1. Certificate or letter of Catholic parish participation and standing from their home parish, signed and sealed by the Pastor.
  2. Attendance at one (or more) Baptismal class(es) at BTCC and by Pre-registration or documentation from another Catholic Parish Baptismal Program.
• Final Review and approval will be by the Pastor of Blessed Trinity Parish in order to confirm date of baptismal ceremony at BTCC.

 
Therefore, BTCC is not accepting requests from persons outside of these guidelines and prerequisites without personal interview by parish clergy and authorization of the Pastor.

Felicitaciones y bendiciones en esta alegre ocasión, marcada por la gracia del Sacramento del Santo Bautismo que será recibido por usted, su hijo(a), o por un catecúmeno dentro del proceso de la Orden de Iniciación Cristiana para Adultos o Niños (OCIA). Requisitos para recibir el Bautismo
Podrán solicitar el Sacramento del Bautismo:

• Toda persona, niño(a), bebé o miembro de una familia inmediata perteneciente a un hogar católico registrado en la Parroquia Blessed Trinity que participe fielmente en la vida parroquial, en las celebraciones litúrgicas y en los programas de formación en la fe.
• Aquellas familias católicas que residan dentro de los límites territoriales de la parroquia Blessed Trinity, participen regularmente en sus liturgias y programas de formación, aunque aún no se hayan registrado oficialmente.
• Feligreses católicos nuevos o recién registrados que estén comenzando a participar activamente en la vida parroquial. La parroquia se reserva el derecho de establecer un período de espera de tres a seis meses para constatar la participación activa y el compromiso cristiano mediante el tiempo, el talento y el apoyo económico.
• Toda persona (adulto, niño o bebé) que se encuentre en peligro de muerte y solicite libremente recibir el Sacramento del Bautismo en la Iglesia Católica, o cuando sea solicitado por sus familiares inmediatos, si fuese necesario.

 
Requisitos para los Padres (o Guardianes Legales)
Los padres o guardianes legales deberán participar en una entrevista inicial con un miembro del clero de Blessed Trinity, después de proporcionar la información preliminar a Nilda Santana (Administradora de la Oficina) o a un sacerdote o diácono de la parroquia. La entrevista podrá realizarse de manera presencial o virtual (Zoom). Solamente los padres católicos deberán completar el expediente de inscripción y presentar, durante la entrevista con el sacerdote o diácono, los siguientes documentos:

• Formulario de Inscripción para el Bautismo de Infantes (IBRF) debidamente completado.
• Copia del certificado de nacimiento del niño(a).
• Certificado de asistencia al programa obligatorio de preparación bautismal impartido en Blessed Trinity por el clero parroquial, o certificado equivalente expedido por otra parroquia católica de la Diócesis de Orlando. Los certificados emitidos fuera de la Diócesis de Orlando deberán estar firmados y sellados por el párroco de la parroquia que los expidió.

 
Fecha y Hora de la Celebración del Bautismo
La Iglesia recomienda que el Sacramento del Bautismo se celebre preferentemente los domingos por la tarde. En Blessed Trinity, el horario habitual es el siguiente:

• Los bautismos normalmente se celebran una vez al mes, los domingos por la tarde.
• Para la comunidad de habla inglesa, se celebran el segundo domingo de cada mes.
• Para la comunidad de habla hispana, se celebran el cuarto domingo de cada mes.
• En circunstancias especiales y por razones graves, podrán programarse bautismos en otras fechas.
• La fecha definitiva de toda celebración bautismal será determinada únicamente en consulta con el clero parroquial y confirmada por el Párroco de Blessed Trinity.

 
Requisitos para los Padrinos (Conforme al Derecho Canónico de la Iglesia Católica)
Los padrinos deberán cumplir con los siguientes requisitos:

• Ser católicos practicantes con al menos dieciséis (16) años de edad.
• Haber recibido los sacramentos del Bautismo, la Eucaristía, la Reconciliación y la Confirmación.
• Vivir activamente su fe católica.
• Si están casados, los padrinos deben haber contraído matrimonio sacramental en la Iglesia Católica o haber convalidado (bendecido) su matrimonio por la Iglesia.

No podrán ser padrinos:

• Personas que convivan en unión libre.
• Personas que vivan fuera de las normas del Sacramento del Matrimonio en la Iglesia Católica.

 
Documentación requerida
Los padrinos deberán presentar:

• Una carta o certificado de buena participación y práctica de la fe emitido por su parroquia de origen, firmado y sellado por el párroco.
• Constancia de asistencia a una o más clases de preparación bautismal en Blessed Trinity, o documentación equivalente de otra parroquia católica.
• La aprobación final de los padrinos y la confirmación de la fecha del Bautismo corresponden exclusivamente al Párroco de Blessed Trinity.

 
Por lo tanto, la Parroquia Blessed Trinity no aceptará solicitudes que no cumplan con estas directrices y requisitos, salvo que exista una entrevista personal con un miembro del clero parroquial y la autorización expresa del Párroco.
