As servant-disciples of Jesus Christ, we are called to remain connected to him. Jesus later describes himself as the true vine, and we are the branches. Apart from him, we cannot bear lasting fruit. Remaining in Christ and allowing the Holy Spirit to work within us enables us to produce a harvest worthy of the Kingdom of God. What kind of harvest are we producing?
This 27th Sunday in Ordinary Time, the Scriptures present the vineyard as a powerful image of our relationship with God. Isaiah's vineyard that yielded wild grapes and Matthew's parable of the wicked tenants both challenge us: we are not owners but caretakers. The stone rejected by the builders has become the cornerstone — Christ himself, entrusted to us. Blessed Trinity is invited to ask not what we want, but what God desires of us, and what kind of harvest of holiness, mercy, and reconciliation we are producing together.
